If you already own your domain name
and have it parked, or are currently pointing to a server
with a different web hosting company, you'll need to
transfer it to 4factors.com to make your new site go
live. Below is our recommended process:
1. Load your web site via FTP to the IP address provided
by 4factors.com. At this point, the site will be live,
but only accessible by the IP address.
2. The next step is to point your domain to that IP
address to make your site accessible via your domain
name.
3. Log into your domain registrar (eg.: netsol.com,
godaddy.com, alldomains.com, etc.), then select "Transfer
Domain Name" or the equivalent choice given within
your registrars program.
4. Change the name servers to (be sure to confirm the
name server info in your intro letter from 4factors.com):
Primary Server Hostname: ns1.hostcentric.net
Secondary Server Hostname: ns2.hostcentric.net
5. Once you've done that, it takes 24-72 hours for
the changes to propagate across the web. Once your new
site is live, you can then cancel your contract with
your previous host.
Tip: In order to tell when your domain
has switched over to the new hosting environment, make
a slight change to your web site before loading it to
the new server. When you can see that change from the
domain you'll know the new server is live.
